Pooyan Nassehpoor, santoor player, the second child of Ostad
Nasrollah Nasehpoor, was born in Tehran, Iran, 1975.
In his family he was acquainted with Persian and Azerbaijani
art music. In 1983 he had a course for Child Music with Mohammad Reza Darvishi (researcher of Persian regional
music). After finishing the course he started to learn the santoor (Persian dulcimer) with Ostad Majid Kiani.
Then he continued his santoor studies with Dr. Soheil Sadi-Nezhad. In order to continue his musical studies,
he had a course with his father for vocal radif repertoire of Persian art music. For studying theoretical Old Persian music
he studied with Prof. Sayyed Abd-Allah Anwar.
He is researcher of the music of the Ghajar
period. He also teaches santoor and has solo, duet and ensemble performances as a member of Nassehpoor Ensemble.
